Ya Think?
In life, there are times when we begin to understand that our conscience is trying to tell us something. If our conscience is not speaking in English then it is speaking in universal so that anyone can understand. This is what a conscience is for, after all. Mine told me 100,000 times that I was drinking way too much. Did I listen? Hell now, I was having a great time. What I failed to understand is that nobody else was having a great time. Problem was, at that point, I didn’t much care if others were not having fun, I was.
Hence, my fall from grace. I left my family in the lurch while I went off on an alcoholic tangent that resulted in near death for myself. As humans we are supposed to learn but that teaching sometimes requires a discipline that is quite difficult to consider when in our cups.
In my case, death’s door awaited and I was rushing toward it with unbridled abandon shouting, Damn Yankees, or words to that affect. It ended terribly until I got back on my feet. That was only the beginning as the danged stuff kept telling me to go by some more if it. This was after almost three months in the hospital after being at death’s door. Did I say absolutely not, I will buy no more of you? Nah, not until that NO came to me right in front of my face. I was fortunate and have not had a drink since even though we have liquor left at our home quite often. There is no temptation and I say that cautiously, fully aware of me.
So, if you think you have a problem odds are that you do. If you’re disagreeing with logic you absolutely do. Yet, it is powerful as hell, isn’t it? That is because this temptation comes, not from Heaven but from hell. That is the spiritual side that no one speaks of. Do I have to tell you who this comes from? Didn’t believe in him did you? You will, if you live through your debauchery. If it happened to me it can happen to you. Don’t let it!
