Not One For Labels

It is my confirmed opinion that people are called far too many things. It would seem like the job scholars and politicians believe they are responsible for is to categorize and label seemingly different people as types, races, or economic success. I call B.S. The only labels that should be applied are innocent or guilty should it come to that. Human beings is another apt name, don’t you think?

You see, some claim innocence because they’re in government but they can claim almost anything and we wouldn’t know. Stock trading, for instance. Wealth creation on the backs of those who voted them into office. Nice and easy and kind of like Al Capone before his income taxes sunk him. Pelosi comes to mind.

When I finally understood that I was most likely not going to drink again I wanted no attached name for what I had managed. Rather, I made a pact with God that I would not hurt those who loved me ever again. This doesn’t mean I won’t call a spade a spade when it comes to screw ups though.

I wanted to be called Dad or Idiot or dummy but never “recovering.” Look, you’re either drinking or you’re not, once, that is, you’ve determined that you’re way over the edge with that stuff. I don’t call myself sober either. I am just me again and that is enough. Seems to work nicely thus far.
